I’m A Mitsubishi Driving Soccer Dad - And Proud Of It
Being a single parent to a couple of 6 year old twin boys isn’t what one would call a stroll in a park. More so since its little league soccer season once more. This year yours truly is to be the man in charge for getting the uniforms produced.
Being one of only 3 guys among 13 women in our team’s committee, it was a little bit of an effort to persuade most of them to agree not to change the team’s kit color from red to a color I’ve only seen on abstract paintings. But as much as we tried, we were not met with success to change the team name to The Red Bears from The Red Flamingos.
After sourcing for team jerseys, and believe it or not - team sponsors, I realized that our team did not have its very own logo. I brought up this concern of mine with the other 2 dads and we decided that it would probably be a a superb idea if we were to have our very own soccer team emblem. So we decided to design a logo prototype each and exhibit them to the committee.
The 3 of us met the coming weekend with our designs and had a good spine splitting laugh, before we concluded that maybe designing wasn’t our thing. Evidently my Flamingo resembled a Woodpecker on performance enhancing substances. The overly hyped designs from the other two dads weren’t much better. One could pass for a piece by Picasso and the other looked like bored doodlings from a unfortunate victim of a 5 hour long department meeting. But we went forward and presented the rough designs to the committee anyway.
Though the committee collectively barred the three of us from designing anything for the club unless there is a blue moon, they did come to agreement that our soccer team should certainly have its very own logo. So I delightedly went home and did a search for logo design portugal, did some checking and picked a few the better spoken of design agencies and gave them to the committee.
Now we are glad to announce that our little soccer team has its own original logo. We had logo patches made for the uniforms and logo stickers printed for fun’s sake - thanks to a little sponsorship we got from the ice cream shop we always take the kids to after a game. The logo itself ended up looking very cool with a Flamingo standing on one leg and the other casually resting on a soccer ball with its wings bent and resting on its hip.
I heard from the little league grapevine that next year I’ll be in charge of water based refreshments. I’m thinking about taking it a step beyond and am already planning to talk to Accelerade about a sponsorship agreement.
